The word toxic defines something that is perceived to be unpleasant or harmful.
But believe it or not, anything can become “toxic” to us, even the food that we eat daily. Yes, you read that right.
People nowadays are unaware that the foods they consider to be appetizing, turns out the opposite effects in the long run.
The foods around you, the majority of which are “common” staples of your diet, are super hazardous.
Not only these food items cause cholesterol problems, as they also contribute to organ, arterial, and nerve damage.

It is essential to pay attention to what you consume in order to stay healthy. Remaining careless is a disadvantage as you are exposing yourself to:

1. Sugary Foods
Your beloved donuts, candies, cakes, sugary drinks, and even the fast-food that you eat, contain a hefty amount of sugar.
The main culprit of these foods is the white sugar present in them. Too much white sugar can be deleterious to your health. It is linked to an increased risk of diabetes and cardiovascular disorders.
Additionally, these foods are also high in empty calories making them unfit for regular consumption, weight loss, or weight maintenance.
Along with containing empty calories, these foods are nutrient-deficient as well. There’s absolutely no nutritious purpose in eating such foods except for satisfying the taste buds.
It is totally understandable that if you are addicted to such foods, renouncing them might not be the easiest task.
However, you can limit your intake of such foods for avoiding harmful side effects.
Margarine is a form of shortening encompassing trans fats or partially hydrogenated oils. You might think it is similar to butter but they are entirely different.
Butter is formed by dairy while margarine is derived from plant oils that are hydrogenated to extract the margarine.
It is comparatively hard for the body to digest because of its complex chemical structure.
Not only do these fats damage our blood vessels, as it also adds immense stress on the liver as well.
There are other susbtitues of margarine available such as unsweetened applesauce, tofu, nut butters, avocados, yogurt, or mashed banana.
It is best to opt for healthier alternatives to improve your health rather than sticking to foods that are deleterious to your health.
3. White Bread
Most of the bread made available to us in local supermarkets is extremely unhealthy as they are, made from refined wheat.
White bread is low in both fiber and essential nutrients. It has been consumed as an essential part of the diet of most cultures, often enjoyed with jam and butter.
For sure hard to resist, but it has also lethal effects to our bodies.
According to an article at the National Health Service, wheat can cause bloating, cramps, diarrhea and sickness. Symptoms come on quite slowly, usually hours after eating.
4. Processed Meat
They are usually preserved by smoking, salting, drying, or canning.
Many prefer to purchase processed meat because it is convenient and affordable.
However, when processed meat is being preserved, lethal cancer-causing substances begin to develop.
As the American Cancer Society suggests, avoiding highly processed foods may contribute to reduce the chances of developing stomach cancer.
5. Cow Milk
It is taken as a beverage in coffees, smoothies and is poured on cereals too. Little do we know that it does more harm than good.
To increase the overall milk supply, large dosages of hormones, antibiotics, and genetically modified substances are injected into cows, and unenviably, a large portion of it goes to the milk.
A huge amount of evidences states that its consumption leads to health concerns.
Cow milk undergoes a lot of processing before it becomes available to us.
A simple scan of soda, and even those with diet label contains zero nutrients in it, and should be avoided at all costs.
All they do is fill your system with sugar and chemicals.
According to a study, drinking even two cans of soda in a week can put a person at risk of potentially getting pancreatic cancer.
It also creates acid in our body, which can cause bones to weaken and depletion of mineral stores.
When flour is being processed; parts of the wheat that contains the most nutritional value and fiber are “removed”.
Even though it may seems harmless, it does more harm than sugar.
When digested, it turns into sugar, causing the insulin levels of our body to rise.
This process puts a lot of stress on our pancreas, making our body shift into a fat-storage-mode.
8. Fast Foods
Even if it tastes good, fast food affects our health rapidly. It is high in sodium, contains processed meat in it, and is saturated with fats as well.
This deadly combination, even if taken once a month, can reduce life expectancy.
According to research conducted in 2018, excessive fast food consumption leads to food addiction, the reason why we are unable to overcome these cravings and omit to eat in a healthier way.
It is broken down easily by our mouth, and activates our brain’s reward centers rapidly.
The bottom line is, we all should remove these foods from our routines as they are toxic to us.
When it comes to health, there’s no way to take a shortcut and skip the food part.
We all know that eliminating these items is not an easy task since they are hard to resist.
But we need to be extremely cautious, for health is wealth, and we should make it our prime priority by choosing healthy and nutrient-rich food.
